"Slopes": a new approach to scoliosis radiographic measurement and evaluation, related to the horizontal plane in a bodily view

چکیده
Background Recently, the sagittal evaluation of the spine moved from a regional spinal view (curves) to the bodily view (“sagittal balance”), looking at the relationships between the gravity force (vertical or horizontal lines) and pelvic, and spinal, parameters. To move the analysis of the frontal plane from a spinal to a bodily view, we introduce the concept of “slopes”: inclination of the spine with respect to the vertical line (used in the past to obtain the measurement of curves with the Ferguson Method); we measured it using the End-Vertebrae Angle (EVA i.e. the inclination of the end scoliosis vertebrae with respect to the horizontal line).

Performance evaluation of modified bentlegPlow using finite element approach
ABSTRACT-This paper aims to develop a new design of a bentleg (BL) plow and to determine its performance as compared to the conventional one using finite element approach. The difference between the modified and conventional BL plows is the direction of angle between the projection of cutting blade on horizontal plane normal to plow shank and the line perpendicular to the plow shank in the same...
متن کاملEvaluation of Patient Outcome and Satisfaction after Surgical Treatment of Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis Using Scoliosis Research Society-30
Background: Adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) may lead to physical and mental problems. It also can adversely affect patient satisfaction and the quality of life. In this study, we assessed the outcomes and satisfaction rate after surgical treatment of AIS using scoliosis research society-30 questionnaire (SRS-30). Methods: We enrolled 135 patients with AIS undergoing corrective surgery...
متن کاملGravity Reduction View: A Radiographic Technique for the Evaluation and Management of Weber B Fibula Fractures
Background: While various radiographic parameters and application of manual/gravity stress have been proposed to elucidate instability for Weber B fibula fractures, the prognostic capability of these modalities remains unclear. Determination of anatomic positioning of the mortise is paramount. We propose a novel view, the Gravity Reduction View (GRV), which helps elucidate non-anatomic position...
متن کاملA new approach for assessing stability of rock slopes considering centroids of weak zones
The intersection lines between discontinuity surfaces and their intersection points on the visible surfaces of any engineering structure may be the instability indicators. This paper describes a new approach to modelling the intersecting lines and points that would provide the first evaluation of any instability in an engineering structure characterized by the failure modes. In this work, the i...
متن کاملWellbore associated problems due to gas injection into non-horizontal structures
The rapid growth in natural gas consumption has increased the need for gas storage, in particular in the form of injection into depleted reservoirs. Also, CO2 sequestration into the depleted reservoirs has attracted a large attention recently. However, it is important to ensure that the injection pressure is maintained below a certain limit to avoid unsealing the cap rock or reactivation of any...
